Triskaidekaphobia is a fear of the number 13. It is usually considered to be a superstition. A specific fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia. (Say that 3 times fast!! Whew!) The fear of the number 13 can be traced back as far as medieval times.Of course everyone knows that I love all things mysterious and urban legend like. So today is a perfect day to read about things like this. I enjoy myths, superstitions and legends however I don’t “believe” in many of them. I think it is fun to read about how people react to things and how things have shaped our culture, even if the reasons are a little crazy.
For example one of the things I find weird is that tall buildings will skip numbering the floor with 13. However, numbered or not, the floor is still the 13th floor. Hmmmm….
